The Coin Company is proud to present the HMS Beagle 2026 UK £2 Brilliant Uncirculated Coin from The Royal Mint.
HMS Beagle is one of the most important vessels in scientific history. Best known for its second voyage of exploration, when naturalist Charles Darwin made the groundbreaking discoveries that led to the publication of his theory of natural selection, HMS Beagle went on three excursions of exploration around the world whilst in active use. The Royal Mint is proud to pay homage to the 200th anniversary of HMS Beagle’s first voyage with a new UK £2 coin.
Designed by William Webb, the reverse of the coin features a depiction of the famous vessel surrounded by a border comprising a selection of the animals that Charles Darwin studied during the ship’s second expedition. The edge of the coin includes an inscription that reads ‘THE VOYAGE OF THE BEAGLE’. The coin is available as a gold Proof, silver Proof Piedfort, silver Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated edition.
