A quarter of a century ago, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring was released in cinemas around the world and marked the beginning of one of the greatest trilogies in cinematic history.

After an epic prologue, which portrays a great alliance of Men and Elves marching against the armies of Mordor, Frodo Baggins leaves the safe, green haven of The Shire and journeys to the heart of Mount Doom, to destroy the One Ring and its master once and for all. However, Frodo is not alone in his quest, as the Hobbit is joined by eight
companions who together form the Fellowship of the Ring.

To mark 25 years since the release of the first film in the global fantasy phenomenon, The Royal Mint is releasing two coins: one that depicts Frodo alongside his loyal companion Samwise Gamgee and another that portrays the menacing Dark Lord Sauron.
