When the Royal Australian Mint released the Remembrance Day coloured $2 coin in November 2012 it signified a number of firsts for the organisation – first coloured coin released into circulation, first use of micro text on a circulating coin, and first time that the $2 coin reverse design had been changed since its introduction in 1988. This was an important milestone for the Mint and its ongoing development as a truly modern world-leading centre of numismatic excellence.

In the intervening decade the Mint has continued to release coloured $2 coins into circulation to commemorate major anniversaries and organisations.
