The Coin Company is proud to present Perth Money Expo ANDA Special - 2025 $1 Postcards from the Front PNC by the Australia Post.

The years of World War I saw the production of millions of embroidered silk postcards, in thousands of designs. France was the largest source, and the cards were especially popular among soldiers on the Western Front. Designs catered to different nationalities (including Australian, New Zealand, British, French, Canadian and South African forces), with flags, regimental emblems, badges and coats of arms.

Postcards sent by Australian soldiers often featured the Australian flag, rising sun, map of Australia, kangaroo, wattle blossom and other national symbols. Others were more personal in spirit, with floral designs and loving messages. Some were accompanied by a smaller, printed card to write on. Many postcards became treasured keepsakes of friends and family: more than 60,000 Australians who served in World War I never came home.
