The Coin Company is proud to present the Lunar Year of the Sheep 2027 UK £5 Brilliant Uncirculated Coin by The Royal Mint.

Since 2014, we have been producing coins in celebration of the Lunar New Year as part of The Shēngxiào Collection. The Chinese zodiac is a meaningful cultural symbolic system that pairs the Twelve Earthly Branches with specific animals, forming a 12-year cycle of zodiac signs. The associated symbols represent traits based on ancient observations which, during Spring Festival, take on special significance as a beacon of hope for the year ahead.                                       

The Year of the Sheep carries beautiful connotations of good fortune, kindness and gentleness, filial piety and gratitude, as well as prosperity and abundance. People born in the Year of the Sheep are often seen as kind-hearted and resilient. Though they may appear gentle and mild on the surface, they possess a quiet inner strength and unwavering determination beneath, coupled with formidable artistic flair and creative skills. Designed by Chris Costello, the reverse features a modern depiction of a sheep in celebration of the new lunar year, which begins on 6 February 2027.

This UK coin is available in a variety of gold Proof and silver Proof editions as well as a Brilliant Uncirculated edition.
