Harry Potter’s second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry gets off to a turbulent start, as the boy wizard and his best friend Ron Weasley find the barrier to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters mysteriously shut. The young wizards are left to find a way to Hogwarts by other means – one that lands them in immediate trouble and sets the tone for a chaotic school year ahead.

Struck to celebrate Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the reverse of this UK coin pays tribute to the iconic scene in the story in which Harry and Ron travel to Hogwarts in a flying car.

Remastered by Bella Biggs, a product designer at The Royal Mint, the stylised design features on the reverse of a gold Proof edition, a one ounce silver Proof edition and a Brilliant Uncirculated edition of the coin. The range also includes both a UK 50p silver Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated edition featuring colour printing.
