The genesis of the two dollar coin dates back to Australia's Bicentenary year in 1988. Designed to replace the two dollar note due to its limited lifespan in circulation, the specifications for the coin's size and format were meticulously crafted. Considerations were made to accommodate the needs of the visually impaired community, ensure stringent security measures, and maintain a coin shape suitable for practical usage, among other pivotal factors. 

Since its introduction, the designs adorning Australia's circulating two dollar coins have paid tribute to numerous historical narratives and culturally significant Australian stories. 

The journey began in 2012 with the poignant Remembrance Day poppy coin, marking the onset of a series of commemorative circulating two dollar designs. 

The 30th Anniversary release, released in 2018 became one of the most thought-after sets in modern Australian numismatic.
