The Coin Company is proud to present the Portraits of Queen Elizabeth II - Mary Gillick £5 Brilliant Uncirculated Coin by The Royal Mint.

During a record-breaking span of seven decades, Elizabeth II established herself as one of the most memorable monarchs in British history. Throughout her remarkable reign, five definitive coinage portraits appeared on the coins of the United Kingdom.

This new Portraits of a Queen Collection takes a closer look at each of these effigies and the stories behind their creation. For the reverse of each coin in the collection, these original portraits have been remastered by Gordon Summers, The Royal Mint’s Chief Engraver.

Available in various editions, the first coin features the inaugural definitive coinage portrait of Elizabeth II, designed by sculptor and medallist Mary Gillick following the monarch’s accession to the throne in 1952. The portrait depicts a beautiful image of the young monarch wearing a laurel wreath.
