The Coin Company is proud to 2025 20c Coloured Uncirculated Book Week Coin - The Rainbow Serpent - Special Edition Book by the Royal Australian Mint.

The Australian Children’s Literature program launched in 2021 with the release of coins celebrating Graeme Base’s Animalia. This was followed by coins featuring Diary of a Wombat (2022), Edward the Emu (2023) and Where is the Green Sheep? (2024). The releases coincide with the annual Children’s Book Week and shine a light on the magic of reading. The program appeals to the whole family with strong bonds formed through reading together.

The Rainbow Serpent, written and illustrated by Dick Roughsey, is the fifth and final release in the series. Roughsey was a Lardil man from Mornington Island in Queensland and is recognised for his invaluable contributions to art and children’s literature. The Rainbow Serpent won the CBCA’s Picture Book of the Year Award in 1976.

This release comprises of three products including a 2025 20c Coloured Uncirculated Coin (available in a card or special edition book) and 2025 Gold-Plated Coloured Uncirculated Coin in Deluxe Edition Book.
