The Royal Australian Mint proudly presents Desert Life, the thirty-first release in its Kangaroo Series, celebrating the iconic Red Kangaroo and its home in Australia’s arid red centre.

The reverse design depicts a kangaroo taking a refreshing drink at a desert waterhole. The clear tones of this 2024 $1 Fine Silver Proof Coin perfectly capture the shimmering surface of the cool water, while the detailed polishes and frostings contrast the animal from its rugged desert surroundings.

Desert life is harsh and unforgiving, yet the Red Kangaroo has adapted to these surrounding and can go for long periods without water. But when water is found, this desert dweller enjoys a long cooling drink.

2024 $5 1 oz Fine Silver High Relief Coin - Dolphin Hourglass

The Hourglass Dolphin coins are the latest in the Royal Australian Mint’s Australian Dolphin Series following the Bottlenose Dolphin (2019), Spinner Dolphin (2020), Fraser’s Dolphin (2021), Dusky Dolphin (2022) and Rough-Toothed Dolphin (2023) releases.

The sixth release in the Royal Australian Mint’s Australian Dolphin Series, the Hourglass Dolphin collection comprises of a fine silver and gold investment coin and a fine silver high relief coin.

The striking design features two Hourglass Dolphins with their striking markings resembling an hourglass, as they frolic in the water. Rarely sighted, it is thought this species is the only cetacean to be classified simply by eye-witness accounts.

Petite in build, the Hourglass Dolphin measures up to 1.8 metres long and weighs up to 120 kilograms, with females thought to be larger than males. While pods of up to approximately 100 Hourglass Dolphins have been seen, they prefer to travel in smaller groups of about a dozen.
