2026 Six-Coin Silver Proof Year Set – 60th Anniversary of Decimal Currency
Royal Australian MintThe Coin Company is proud to present the 2026 Six-Coin Silver Proof Year Set – 60th Anniversary of Decimal Currency by the Royal Australian Mint.
2026 marks the 60th anniversary of Australia’s changeover to decimal currency, which occurred on 14 February 1966. Prior to this, the national currency was the Australian pound, based on its British counterpart and introduced in 1910. The coins under this system were the halfpenny, penny, threepence, sixpence, shilling and florin – with 12 pennies in a shilling and 20 shillings in a pound, which was in the form of a note.
This 2026 Six-Coin Fine Silver Proof Year Set includes a 50c reverse commemorating Australia’s iconic pre-decimal coinage, as well as a 10c reverse that represents the decimal coins passing through our hands today. These special designs by the Mint’s Aaron Baggio complement the standard circulating designs of the 5c, 20c, $1 and $2 coins which complete the set. All six coins, crafted with 99.9% fine silver, are testament to the Mint’s enduring artistic and engineering excellence.
With a maximum of 2,026 produced, this silver proof year set would be an esteemed addition to any coin collection.
