Sadly, habitat loss and human conflict drove this iconic animal to the brink of extinction by the 1980s. Thanks to dedicated conservation efforts, including one of the world’s first successful reintroduction programs, the red wolf endures today as a symbol of survival and hope. The obverse features the Red Wolf and the reverse features the Mesa Grande Sovereign Nation effigy.
